Welcome to Hilltop Hives and Honey, where you'll find fresh, natural, organic, local, hand harvested
bee's honey from the Adelaide Hills in South Australia.

The little yellow guys are working hard, flying thousands of trips to hundreds of flowers every day, to make the
beautiful sweet golden honey that we love so much!

Got a Bee Swarm ?

Hilltop Hives and Honey SA is a small, honey loving, novice beekeeping operation, with beehives located in the Adelaide Hills.  We are beekeepers who look forward to sharing our journey, our honey and our love of nature with you as we grow.

Please bee patient while we build this website, build our beehives, and while the bees build the honeycomb!

Why We Love Flow Hives!

We often get asked what type of hive and frames to use, and our response is always "get Flow Hives".  Why?

Here's the top 12 reasons why we love Flow Hives and Flow Frames:
  1. Flow Hives are simply easier for new beekeepers, amateurs, and hobby beekeepers to use,
  2. Despite their high initial upfront purchase costs, Flow Hives are cheaper in the long run,
  3. You don’t need to buy: expensive extracting equipment like manual extractors, uncapping rollers, uncapping forks, uncapping knives, uncapping tubs, uncapping tables, honey filters and sieves.
  4. You don’t need to build or have a special ‘bee proof’ room to do the extracting in,
  5. You don’t have to worry about what to do with the extracted ‘sticky’ frames after extraction,
  6. You don’t disturb the bees in such a violent way like the removal of the honey laden frames does,
  7. Bees survive the extraction process relatively unstressed and unharmed,
  8. You don’t have to lift heavy boxes of honey laden frames and wax,
  9. The bees rebuild the honeycomb faster in a Flow Frame,
  10. There is far less equipment to clean up after extraction,
  11. It’s takes less effort and is sell physically demanding on your body,
  12. It’s takes much less time to extract the honey,
  13. The Flow Hive and Flow Frames are well designed and easy to use for a beginner beekeeper.
